Spot a fake support call

Nobody legitimate calls you first about a virus. Here is what the real thing never does.

  1. 1
We never call you first asking for remote access. Neither does Microsoft, Apple, your bank or your internet provider.
  2. 2
A real technician never asks you to buy gift cards, read a code from a text message, or install software from a link they give you on the phone.
  3. 3
Hang up. If you let someone connect, turn the computer off, change your email password from another device, and open a work order marked Urgent.
